EghtesadOnline: Azerbaijan is after Iran's help to implement Baku, Nakhchivan railways, said the Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov.

There are two main ways and the most suitable and economical one is through Iran, Gurbanov said.

After finalizing north-South International Corridor, the railway from Baku to Nakhchivan would be possible, IRNA quoted him as saying.

The way is 1,450 km long and it needs one billion dollars, he added.

The other way is through Turkey and it needs $2.5 million, Gurbanov noted.

After the dispute in Karabakh between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the road and the railway between Baku and Nakhchivan were blocked.

The road transportation between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan is through Iran at the moment.
