During the visit, Faisal Mekdad will hold meetings with some Iranian officials, ISNA reported.
The meeting of Iran-Syria Joint Political Committee was held today in the presence of the senior Syrian diplomat and Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs Hossein Jaberi-Ansari.
Both sides discussed the bilateral, regional and international issues.
Syrian ambassador to Tehran and a number of officials from the Middle East Department of Iran’s foreign ministry have also participated in the meeting.
This visit comes at the invitation of Mr. Jaberi-Ansari and on the eve of the seventh round of Astana talks which is slated to be held in the Kazakh capital.
