Gov’t Allocates Over $87m to Nomads

EghtesadOnline: For the first time since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the government has allocated up to 3.5 trillion rials ($87.5 million) out of revenues earned from value added tax for the development of nomadic regions as per the Sixth Five-Year Development Plan (2017-22), the head of the Iranian Nomad Organization, Karamali Qandali, has announced.

Iran’s development plans outline budgetary goals for the five years to come. According to Qandali, nomads constitute 2% of Iran’s population, 28% of the country’s meat and 35% of handicrafts production, IRNA reported.
