WCO Chief in Tehran

EghtesadOnline: Secretary-General of World Customs Organization Kunio Mikuriya arrived in Tehran on Saturday to meet top government officials, including Economy Minister Masoud Karbasian, director of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, Foroud Asgari, and President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Gholamhossein Shafei.

In his meeting with Karbasian, the WCO chief hailed IRICA's achievements in employing information technology, electronic customs and implementation of the so-called "Single-Window System", the most important development in Iran’s customs administration, ILNA reported. During his two-day visit, the official will be updated about Iran’s achievements in combating drug trafficking. IRICA ranked first in combating illicit drugs and second in fighting smuggling in WCO’s latest report, according to Financial Tribune.
