Bitumen Export Volume Up, Value Down

EghtesadOnline: Some 2.2 million tons of bitumen worth $410 million were exported from Iran during the seven months to Oct. 22, registering a 17% rise in weight and 6% fall in value compared with the similar period of last year, an official with the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran.

Masoud Kamali Ardakani added that the UAE, Myanmar, Pakistan, Qatar, Oman, India and China were the main export destinations of the product during the period, IRNA reported. Last year’s (March 2016-17) exports stood at 3.3 million tons worth $715 million. Some 100 million tons of bitumen are produced in the world annually. Iran accounts for close to 4% of this sum, according to Financial Tribune.
