Iran Airport Traffic Up 15% in one Month

EghtesadOnline: Iran Airports Company registered 36,536 takeoffs and landings during the Iranian month ending Jan. 20, which shows a 15% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period.

Close to 4.37 million passengers and 39,827 tons of cargo were transported during the period, indicating a respective growth of 15% and 13% year-on-year, IAC reported on its website.

As for domestic flights, 30,714 takeoffs and landings were registered, up 17% YOY.

More than 3.59 million passengers and 24,492 tons of goods were transported domestically, indicating a 17% rise each over last year’s corresponding period, according to Financial Tribune.

On the international front, about 5,822 takeoffs and landings were registered, registering a rise of 3% YOY.

A total of 780,720 passengers and 15,335 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, posting an 8% and 7% increase respectively YOY. Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest domestic airport during the period, followed by Mashhad International Airport and Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Iran Airports Company is an arm of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, which manages 54 airports across the country.
