Industrial Permits Register Growth

EghtesadOnline: The Ministry of Industries, Mining, and Trade issued 13,974 permits for the establishment of industrial units during the nine months to Dec. 21, 2017, registering an increase of 16.9% compared to last year’s corresponding period.

These permits created 315,829 jobs, indicating an 18.5% rise year-on-year, IRNA reported.  

In addition, the ministry issued 4,158 permits for industrial units to start operation during the nine-month period, indicating a 6.7% rise YOY. These permits created 68,171 jobs, registering a 19.2% increase YOY. 

According to Donya-e-Eqtesad analysis, food products and beverages, non-metallic minerals, rubber and plastic products, chemical materials and products, and metal and finished products, excluding machinery, were fields in which the largest number of permits was issued (2,145, 1,610, 1,354, 1,243 and 1,190 respectively), Financial Tribune reported.

Permits created the highest number of jobs in the provinces of Khorasan Razavi (30,364), Yazd (19,899), Tehran (18,973), Semnan (18,500) and East Azarbaijan (18,144). 

The category of chemicals and products attracted the highest amount of investment during the period under review (273 trillion rials or $6.10 billion), followed by base metals (166 trillion rials or $3.7 billion), coke and oil byproducts (159 trillion rials or $3.5 billion), food products and beverages (115 trillion rials or $2.5 billion), and rubber and plastic products (72 trillion rials or $1.6 billion).

Khuzestan topped the list of Iranian provinces that attracted the highest amount of investment (181 trillion rials or $4.04 billion), followed by Bushehr Province (51 trillion rials or $1.1 billion) and Yazd Province (49 trillion rials or $1.09 billion).
