Tehran, Baku Negotiating PTA

EghtesadOnline: Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Masoud Karbasian said talks are underway with Azerbaijan to conclude a preferential trade agreement.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 12th meeting of Iran-Azerbaijan Economic Commission on Tuesday, the minister told reporters that the two sides are engaged in talks to expand cooperation in various fields, including banking, transportation, energy, water, environment and agriculture, Trend News Agency reported. The minister highlighted the significance of cooperation in the agriculture sector, saying that the two sides have signed a deal that allows Iran to harvest on 4,000 hectares of land in Azerbaijan. Karbasian earlier in the day said the two countries are planning to finalize 12 documents on cooperation within the framework of the joint commission, which is to conclude on Wednesday. The Azerbaijani delegation in Tehran is led by economy minister and co-chairman of the joint commission, Shahin Mustafayev who met with President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday. Rouhani is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan later this month, according to Financial Tribune.
