7% Increase in Iran Airport Traffic

EghtesadOnline: Iran Airports Company registered 35,073 takeoffs and landings during the Iranian month ending Feb. 19, which shows a 7% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period.

Close to 4.31 million passengers and 40,375 tons of cargo were transported during the period, indicating a 5% and 6% year-on-year growth respectively, IAC reported on its website.

As for domestic flights, 29,346 takeoffs and landings were registered, up 8% YOY.

More than 3.5 million passengers and 25,756 tons of goods were transported domestically, indicating a 5% and 10% rise respectively over last year’s corresponding period, according to Financial Tribune.

On the international front, about 5,727 takeoffs and landings were registered, showing a 1% decline YOY.

A total of 818,855 passengers and 14,618 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, posting a 4% rise in passenger transportation while cargo transportation remained unchanged YOY.

Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest domestic airport during the period, followed by Mashhad International Airport and Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Iran Airports Company is an arm of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, which manages 54 airports across the country.
