Kish Port Throughput Grows 68%

EghtesadOnline: More than 3.5 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded at Kish Port located in the southern Hormozgan Province in the last Iranian year (March 2017-18), which shows a 68% rise compared with the previous year, the director of Kish Port and Maritime Organization said.

“Non-oil goods comprised 3.18 million tons, of which oil accounted for 324,805 tons of the total sum, indicating a 76% and 13% growth respectively,” Ahmad Shahriari was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Shahriari added that 2,152 tons and 435,012 tons of non-oil goods were exported and imported respectively from the port last year.

A total of 15,409 vessels docked at the port, indicating an 18% rise compared to the previous year, 692 of which weighed over 1,000 tons, according to Financial Tribune.

Kish is a resort island enjoying free trade zone status.
