EghtesadOnline: For preventing speculative activities in Iran’s currency market and supporting authorized bureaux de change, 80 uncertified money exchange shops have been closed in the past six days while dozens of speculators have been arrested, according to a police spokesman, Saeed Montazer Al-Mahdi.

“More than 70 money exchangers whose documents were not approved by the Central Bank of Iran were issued closure notice,” he was also quoted as saying by IBENA.

He said 39 currency speculators were arrested only on Tuesday and vowed that people operating outside CBI-approved regulations will be met with disciplinary action.

“We hope that as CBI measures to provide currency for applicants are implemented, the operations of money exchangers would grow,” Financial Tribune quoted Montazer Al-Mahdi as saying.
