Most Iranian Mines Lack Safety Facilities

EghtesadOnline: Over 87% of Iranian mines lack standard safety, health and environmental facilities, according to an official report published by the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare.

Surveying the mining sector during the fiscal 2016-17, the report noted that 4,305 of the country’s total of 4,913 operational mines had not established the required facilities by the yearend. Kerman, Tehran and Fars provinces had the highest number of properly equipped mines with 102, 63 and 62 respectively. Mazandaran, Alborz and Bushehr provinces, on the other hand, were at the bottom of the chart with 10, 10 and 11 standard mines respectively. Limestone, decorative stone and sand and gravel mines had the highest number of facilities, while bitumen, ballast stone and mica mines had the lowest, according to Financial Tribune.
