EghtesadOnline: Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi and Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Samer al-Khalil signed an economic memorandum of understanding on Friday.

The MoU will pave the way for a strategic long-term economic cooperation document to be signed during the Iran-Syria Economic Commission, scheduled to be held in Damascus in the near future.  Through the strategic cooperation document, which is to be signed by the Iranian First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri and Syrian Premier Imad Khamis, the two sides will agree to enter collaboration in the fields of trade, transportation, industries, banking and reconstruction of war-torn Syrian buildings, IRNA reported.  Heading a delegation, the Iranian minister arrived in Damascus on Thursday to discuss issues of mutual interest with Syrian officials.  Akhoundi told Syrian Public Works and Housing Minister Hussein Arnous the same day that Iran has the expertise in the construction of roads and bridges, particularly the establishment of infrastructure, Financial Tribune reported.
