SCI: Iran Inflation at 8% for Year Ending May 21

EghtesadOnline: The average goods and services Consumer Price Index in Iran during the 12-month period ending May 21, which marks the end of the Iranian month of Ordibehesht, increased by 8% compared with last year’s corresponding period, the Statistical Center of Iran reported.

SCI had put the inflation rate for the preceding month (Farvardin), which ended on April 21, at 8.1%.

The overall CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) stood at 114.1 in Ordibehesht, indicating a 1.1% rise compared with the previous month. 

The index registered a year-on-year increase of 8.3% compared with the similar month of last year, Financial Tribune reported.

SCI put urban and rural inflation for Ordibehesht at 8.1% and 7.9% respectively. The overall CPI reached 114.1 for urban households and 114 for rural households, indicating an increase of 1.1% for urban areas and 0.9% for rural areas compared with the previous month.

The index registered a year-on-year increase of 8.6% for urban areas and 6.6% for rural areas compared with the similar month of last year.
