EghtesadOnline: Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari has appointed Fereshteh Dastpak as the new head of Iran National Carpet Center.

She is replacing Hamid Kargar, IRNA reported on Thursday.

INCC was founded in the fiscal March 2003-4, with the aim of maintaining the prominent place of Iranian hand-woven carpets as a valuable cultural and artistic heritage at the national and international level through the supervision, guidance and support of related institutions, apart from boosting exports.

According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, close to 5,400 tons of hand-woven carpets worth $424 million were exported from Iran during the last fiscal (March 2017-18), indicating an 18% rise compared to the year before, Financial Tribune reported.

Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, the US, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon and Japan are traditionally the biggest customers of Iranian hand-woven carpet.
