EghtesadOnline: Deputy Agriculture Minister Morteza Rezaei said standardizing the age and weight of broiler chickens produced in Iranian poultry farms is inevitable and highly important to have a bigger share in international markets.

“In foreign trade, chicken is sold with a weight of maximum 1,200-1,400 grams, while the average chicken produced in Iranian farms weighs over 2 kilograms,” Rezaei was quoted as saying by IRNA.

Iran produces over 2.1 million chickens in 20,000 farms annually.

In the past few years, close to 100,000 tons of chicken were exported from Iran annually, according to Financial Tribune.
