IME Monthly Trade Hits $1.3b

EghtesadOnline: About 2.1 million tons of commodities worth over 56 trillion rials ($1.33 billion) were traded at Iran Mercantile Exchange during the second month of the current fiscal year (April 21-May 21).

Oil and petrochemical commodities had the lion’s share of trade, accounting for 1.4 million tons worth 35.96 trillion rials ($856.28 million) of the total monthly trade. These commodities included 393,693 tons of bitumen, 310,941 tons of polymers, 122,830 tons of chemicals, 419,500 tons of vacuum bottom, 99,470 tons of lube cuts, 51,200 tons of sulfur, 3,098 tons of insulations, 4,000 tons of slop wax and 4,517 tons of base oil. Industrial and mineral products came next with 467,791 tons worth 17.69 trillion rials ($421.2 million). These commodities included 370,135 tons of steel products, 20,155 tons of copper, 650 tons of molybdenum concentrate, 21 tons of iron ore concentrate, 11,920 tons of aluminum, 5,000 tons of cement, 35,000 tons of direct-reduced iron and 25,000 tons of iron ore. Agricultural commodities trade stood at 209,010 tons worth 2.64 trillion rials ($62.9 million). They included 990 kilograms of saffron, 60,000 day-old chicks, 178,525 tons of wheat, 7,775 tons of sugar, 21,400 tons of unprocessed vegetable oil, 400 tons of oilseeds, 100 tons of dates and 750 tons of barley, ILNA reported on Sunday. Founded in 2006, IME trades agricultural, industrial and petrochemical products in the spot and futures markets, Financial Tribune reported.
