EghtesadOnline: Iran was elected a member of World Customs Organization’s Policy Commission during the 132nd session of WCO Council held in Brussels, Belgium, from June 28 to 30.

The country had requested to become a Policy Commission member last year, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration’s news portal reported.

Membership of the commission is restricted to a specific number of WCO members, elected by the WCO Council on a regional basis from among members active in the region.

The commission concerns itself with broad policy questions relevant to WCO’s activities. It acts as a dynamic steering group to the council and initiates studies on the policies, practices and procedures of WCO with the objective of assisting the council to achieve the broad aims of its activities, according to Financial Tribune.
