Strong Rise in Exports From Kurdestan

EghtesadOnline: About 490,000 tons of goods valued at $294 million were exported from Kurdestan Province’s customs terminals during the first quarter of the current Iranian year (March-June) to register a 68% increase in tonnage and a 36% increase in value year-on-year, IRNA quoted Director General of Kurdestan Province’s Customs Administration Bakhtiyar Rahmanipour as saying.

Agricultural crops, with 213,000 tons worth $83 million, accounted for the biggest portion of exports. Other commodities exported from Kurdestan during the period included mineral and plastic products.

Iraq, with 315,000 tons of imports worth $159 million, was the biggest export destination of products exported from Kurdestan, followed by Afghanistan, Pakistan, Romania and Armenia.

Kurdestan is a western province of Iran with 200 km of border with Iraq, according to Financial Tribune.
