EghtesadOnline: Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari has called for a thorough revision of commercial identity cards in a directive to provincial organizations affiliated to the ministry on Sunday.

His directive came a few days after the Cabinet introduced new changes in commercial ID card rules, including imposing a limit on imports a cardholder can bring into the country annually ($500,000 for the first year and $2 million for the second) and requiring them to pass training courses on foreign trade held by Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture and Iran Chamber of Cooperatives.

Many merchants have used fake commercial cards or used permits given to others for importing goods to evade taxes and tariffs in the past, IRNA reported.

The new changes also include verification of the true identity of the cardholders, according to Financial Tribune.
