Head of metal and minerals department at CPPO, Ahmad Fardar, warned people against placing orders for imported vehicles, stressing that there is a slim chance for having the units delivered, reported IRNA.
Fardar also called on customers to only purchase imported vehicles from registered companies since many profiteering dealers have tried to exploit the market's current state of chaos, charging buyers exorbitant sums of money, according to Financial Tribune.
Meisam Rezaei, director of Auto Importers Guild Association, stated that speeding up the customs clearance process will act as a stabilizing force in the imported auto market, wrote local automotive website Asbe Bokhar.
"In addition, companies are given the chance to meet the commitments they have made to customers," he added.
Previously, President Hassan Rouhani issued a directive to accelerate clearance procedures.
