EghtesadOnline: Chain stores are not suffering from a shortage of basic goods, but ungrounded rumors on the Internet have made people turn to overpurchasing, the deputy chairman of Chain Stores Union said.

Following the US President Donald Trump’s decision to pull out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and reinstate sanctions on Iran, the first wave of which is set to come into effect on August 6, Iran’s domestic market has been in disarray.

Mansour Aalipour added that rumors have circulated that chain stores are not properly stocked, but there is no problem in the supply of essential goods and the only case of shortage pertains to household appliances, IRNA reported.

According to the official, people who hoard food products, with some making excessive purchases in the wake of the rumors, have caused chain stores to limit the amount or number of certain products that can be purchased by each costumer, according to Financial Tribune.
