The app which is also dubbed PitStop, based on users’ location, lists the nearest trusted workshops, handling breakdowns, fixing mechanical failures and providing regular maintenance services, wrote local technology website Techrato.
In motorsports, a pit stop is where a racing vehicle stops in the pits during a race for refueling, new tires, repairs, mechanical adjustments, a driver change, or any combination of the above.
Services offered by PitStop include roadside assistance (tow trucks) and provision of car accessories 24/7 on-demand as well as regular maintenance services, fixing problems with electrical wiring and battery, wheel alignment, dent repairs and paint jobs, enabling motorists to select a nearby workshop for rectify the given problems, according to Financial Tribune.
The automotive repair app also hopes to instigate competition among garages, challenging them to be more efficient and customer-centric.
How to Use
After installing the application on smart devices, users should enter their phone number and sign up on the platform. Then, their real-time location can be viewed on an interactive map.
There are six options listed on the first page. Choosing the “add vehicle” option enables subscribers to see one’s already registered automobiles, and add new car’s specifications as well.
The information that car owners can upload on the app includes the vehicle model and plate number. Afterwards, users can submit a request, depending on their desired location to receive services.
Payments can be made via the app and also through online gateways, or in cash.
PitStop is currently available on Android markets namely Cafe Bazaar and Google Play, as well as PitStop’s website.
Development of such applications can help improve the automotive ecosystem through costs transparency while allowing drivers more flexibility to choose where they can get their cars serviced.
Back in 2015, the Touring and Automobile Club of Iran had released a similar vehicle service application dubbed ‘Emdad Khodro Kanoon’ for smartphone users to speed up the automotive recovery process.
