EghtesadOnline: Close to 95% of gasoline distributed in Khorasan Razavi Province meets the Euro 4 standards, the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company's provincial chief said.

"Premium gasoline, branded as 'super', accounts for 5% of the total gasoline supplied to the region," Ali Asghar Asghari was also quoted as saying by Shana, the Oil Ministry's news agency.

According to the official, 100% of the diesel supplied to the province is of high-quality to curb air pollution that hampers the wellbeing of millions of residents in the region.

"NIOPDC has been distributing Euro-4 gasoline and diesel in the region since January 2018," Asghari said, adding that more than 98 million liters of the quality fuel were consumed between January and June in the province, of which 380 million liters were burnt in Mashhad, capital of the province. NIOPDC covers a number of towns in the province, including Chenaran, Kalat, Binaloud, Firouzeh, Neyshabur, Fariman, Qouchan, Torbat-e Jam, Taibad and Sarakhs, according to Financial Tribune.

Gasoline consumption in the fourth Iranian month that ended on July 21 reached an unprecedented average of 91.7 million liters per day, data released by NIOPDC show.   The figure indicates an 8.5% increase compared with the corresponding figure of last year (84.6 ml/d), Shana reported.

According to Alireza Rajabpour, NIOPDC's deputy for exports and imports, gasoline consumption is expected to witness a sharp rise, as more people will go on summer holiday trips.

The data also reveal a hike in diesel consumption. Some 73 million liters of diesel have been consumed daily on average during the 30-day June-July period, showing an 8.7% year-on-year jump as diesel consumption amounted to 67.2 million liters in the previous year's corresponding period.

This is while an average of 68.8 million liters of diesel have been burnt daily since March 21, indicating a 6.1% rise YOY.
