During a visit to the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council on Saturday, ICT Minister Mohammad Javad Azari-Jahromi said the government is poised to ease the exports of products made by Iranian firms active in the field of nanotechnology, the ministry’s website reported.
According to Azar-Jahromi, Iranian firms active in the field have made notable headways, adding that nanotechnology can top all other industries as it enhances efficiency by using limited amounts of resources.
He is of the opinion that nanotechnology can be of great help to the ICT sector; for instance, corrosion resistant nanomaterials can be used in communication towers mounted in hot and humid regions, Financial Tribune reported.
“Provision of nanotech products namely antibacterial textile, anti-fouling paint, anti-scratch and corrosion resistant coatings as well as anti-cancer drugs, are areas holding out export potential,” the ICT minister added.
Time to Build on Gains
Secretary of INIC Saeed Sarkar presented a report on the current status of the field and the achievements made to the minister and Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari, who was also among the attendees.
Hearing the report, Azari-Jahromi stated that positive efforts have been made in the field, with considerable progress in industrialization and exports; though further steps are still needed to be taken.
Azari-Jahromi who also is the chairman of Iran-Indonesia Joint Economic Commission highlighted that nanotechnology is a fundamental area in shaping mutual cooperation with other nations.
Back in 2016, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Iran and Indonesia to expand ties in various fields, mainly economic domains, plus the development of nanotechnology.
Several rounds of talks have been held ever since, discussing subjects as varied as medicine, healthcare, automotive, marine industries and textile, so as to expand technological as well as trade cooperation between the two countries.
