EghtesadOnline: To tackle US sanctions, the ICT Ministry has come up with a package that can assist Iran in surviving sanctions reimposed by the US against Tehran.

A top-level official at the ICT Ministry, Sirous Movasaqi says the ministry has designed a package aiming to address the troubles caused by the implementation of US sanctions for the ICT sector, reported the ICT Ministry’s website.

In response to US President Donald Trump’s move to renege on the historic Iran nuclear deal, and the reimposition of sanctions targeting the country’s various industrial and technological sectors, Movasaqi says the ICT Ministry has categorized the upcoming challenges in the sectors it oversees into several groups and worked out solutions for each.

Among the topics analyzed by the ministry are the problems with the import of intermediary goods for the expansion and maintenance of the communications networks, transfer of foreign currency and the increase in the price of ICT-related services and products, according to Financial Tribune.

Some of the solutions offered by the ministry are moderating the USD rate in contracts, using the stock market’s capacity to provide telecommunication operators with much-needed funds and providing firm support for local producers.

The roadmap is currently awaiting approval by the headquarters for Resistance Economy. Resistance Economy refers to a set of principles aimed at bolstering domestic production, curbing oil dependence, improving productivity and encouraging Iranians to buy domestically-manufactured products. The values have been hailed by the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the surest way of achieving sustainable prosperity and economic empowerment.

The ICT Ministry has collaborated with tech specialists and the Plan and Budget Organization to draw up the scheme.
