Exports From Imam Khomeini Port Grow 8%

EghtesadOnline: More than 4.93 million tons of non-oil commodities were exported from Imam Khomeini Port in the southern Khuzestan Province during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Aug. 22), registering an 8% growth compared with the similar period of last year.

According to the director general of the province’s Ports and Maritime Organization, Adel Deris, a total of more than 17.68 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Imam Khomeini Port.

Non-oil goods accounted for around 10.68 million tons of the total sum and the rest pertained to oil products, the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development reported.

Deris noted that the southern port accounted for 72% of the country’s total imports of essential goods such as grains, raw vegetable oils, livestock feed and agricultural raw materials during the period under review, according to Financial Tribune.

More than 5 million tons of essential goods were imported into Imam Khomeini Special Economic Zone during the same five months, registering a 6% increase year-on-year.
