Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari called for the ban in a letter to the head of IRICA, Foroud Askari, on Sept. 10, IRNA reported on Sunday.
To avert any shortage of essential goods, the government has recently placed bans on their exports.
The first such ban, which became effective on Aug. 23, pertained to the export of different kinds of paper, tissue, milk powder, infant formula, tea and butter in packages weighing more than 500 grams, Financial Tribune reported.
Later, the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade also banned the export of scrap tires and waste rubber in a letter to IRICA.
The export of all kinds of refined vegetable oils has also been banned, which directive was announced by Shariatmadari in a letter forwarded to the Iranian Vegetable Oil Industry Association.
On the other hand, bans imposed on the export of packaging paper, tissue and tea have been lifted.
Importers of certain commodities, including tea and paper, enjoy subsidized foreign currency rates, as they are considered essential goods. The ban on the export of these commodities could be aimed at stemming profiteering from their reexportation.
