Iran Government's Departure Tax Revenues Up 117 Percent

EghtesadOnline: The government earned 3 trillion rials ($24 million) from departure tax in the first four months of the current year (March 21-July 22). The figure indicates a rise of 177.2% compared with the same period of last year, the latest data released by the Central Bank of Iran show.

Revenues from departure tax, which is a subcategory of tax on goods and services of indirect taxes, were estimated to hover around 2.7 trillion rials ($22 million) in the four-month period.  The target in the budget law for the current year’s revenues from departure tax is 8 trillion rials ($65 million). 

Departure tax has increased almost threefold compared to last year to reach 2.2 million rials ($17.8) with the exception of religious trips, which have remained the same at 375,000 rials ($3) for air travel and 125,000 rials (around $1) for road travel, Financial Tribune reported.
