Iran Airport Traffic Dips 11% (June-July 2018)

EghtesadOnline: Iran Airports Company registered 35,816 takeoffs and landings during the Iranian month ending July 22, which shows an 11% decline compared with the similar period of last year.

Close to 4.46 million passengers and 44,114 tons of cargos were transported during the period, indicating an 11% and 10 decrease respectively year-on-year, IAC's latest data published on its website show.

As for domestic flights, 29,359 takeoffs and landings were registered, down 11% compared with the similar period of last year. More than 3.41 million passengers and 24,496 tons of goods and parcels were transported domestically, indicating a 13% and 15% decrease respectively YOY.

On the international front, 6,457 takeoffs and landings were registered, down by 11% YOY. A total of over 1.047 passengers and 19, 617 tons of cargos were transported to and from overseas destinations, both posting a 4% decrease YOY, according to Financial Tribune.

Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest domestic airport during the period, with 11.046 takeoffs and landings, showing a 4% increase compared with the similar period of last year. 

More than 1.3 million passengers and 8,660 tons of cargos were transported at this airport, indicating an 8% and 7% rise respectively YOY. 

Mashhad International Airport was the second busiest airport during the one-month period with 6,100 takeoffs and landings, up 16% compared with last year's similar period. More than 888,829 passengers and 8,670 tons of cargo were transported at the airport, indicating a 22% and 37% growth respectively YOY. 

Imam Khomeini International Airport registered 4,558 takeoffs and landings, while transporting 755,857 passengers and 13,805 tons of cargo to register a YOY increase of 12%, 29% and 23% respectively.

Iran Airports Company is an arm of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, which manages 54 airports across the country.
