Tehran Stock Exchange Trade Exceeds $5b in 6 Months to September 2018

EghtesadOnline: About 250.97 billion shares and securities worth 723.32 trillion rials ($5.56 billion) were traded in the Tehran Stock Exchange since the beginning of the current fiscal (March 21) during 127 working days in 14.13 million deals, the IRIB new website reported on Saturday.

During the six months 164.38 billion shares worth 398.1 trillion rials ($3.06 billion) were traded in the first market in 7.48 million deals, while the second market’s traded shares totaled 248.18 billion worth 248.18 trillion rials ($1.90 billion) in 6.51 million deals.

About 53 million shares worth 51.38 trillion rials ($395.26 million) were traded in the bond market in 22,335 deals; and 1.40 billion shares worth 34 billion rials ($261,538) changed hands in the derivative market.

In addition, 2.49 billion units from Exchange Traded Funds worth 25.62 trillion rials ($197.1 million) were traded in 118,606 deals, according to Financial Tribune.

Tehran Stock Exchange’s main index has witnessed 93% growth since the beginning of the year to reach 185,559. The first market index and the second market index grew by 68,124 and 206,487 points respectively during the period.​

Chemicals Have Lion’s Share 

Analysis of the stock market during the calendar month ending September 22 shows that chemical products had the highest value with 28 companies and a market value of 1.53 quadrillion rials ($11.79 billion). Following the chemicals were basic metals with over 979 trillion rials ($7.53 billion) and oil products, coke, and nuclear fuels with more than 591 trillion rials ($4.54 billion), Securities $ Exchange News Agency reported.

About 140.05 billion shares worth 324.16 billion rials ($2.49 million) have been traded online in the stock exchange making up 33.8% and 28.11% of the total volume and value of traded shares respectively during the first half of the current fiscal. 

On the other hand, 49 million shares worth 47.44 billion rials ($364,976) were traded in the bonds market, while 2.17 million units from investment funds tradable in Tehran Stock Exchange worth over 22.24 billion rials ($171,130) were traded during H1, registering growth of 284% and 273% in volume and value respectively compared to last year.

Moreover, Kish Stock Exchange registered the highest trade value during the six-month period among provincial bourses with 12.64 billion rials ($97,292), followed by Karaj Stock Exchange with 11.92 billion rials ($91,730), Isfahan Stock Exchange 19.32 billion rials ($148,615), Mashhad Stock Exchange 13.65 billion rials ($105,007), and Tabriz Stock Exchange 13.19 billion rials ($101,492).
