EghtesadOnline: The governor of Khoy city of West Azarbaijan Province and his counterpart from Turkey's Van Province have signed a security and economic cooperation agreement titled "Fifty-Second Security Subcommittee Contract".

Referring to Khoy hosting the governor of Van and 17 Turkish officials in recent days, Seyyed Mohammad Abadi added, “Combating drug trafficking, human smuggling, terrorism, organized crimes and illegal immigration are among the provisions of the agreement," IRNA reported on Friday.

Abadi noted that the rise in trade exchanges and development of joint border markets at Razi border crossing linking Khoy with Kapikoy of Van, as well as the development of tourism infrastructure, are among other articles of the contract.

He stated that Murad Zur Oglu, the governor of Van, pointed to the common enemies of Iran and Turkey active at the border crossing and emphasized the exchange of information and joint border operations to combat them, according to Financial Tribune.

Abadi further said the accelerated completion of border terminals to increase cultural and economic exchanges has also been foreseen in the contract.
