EghtesadOnline: The ban placed by Afghanistan as of Sept. 16 on the import of Iranian oil products, cement, steel products, tiles and ceramics through Farah border crossing has been officially lifted.

The announcement was made in a letter sent by Director General of Afghanistan Customs Department Ahmad Reshad Popal to customs authorities at the border terminal called Mahiroud on the Iranian side, Mehr News Agency reported on Sunday.

The Afghan official requested authorities on Farah checkpoint to prevent the repetition of previous violations of customs regulations, which led to imposition of restrictions in the first place.

Latest statistics released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show Iran exported $1.87 billion worth of non-oil commodities to Afghanistan during the seven months to Oct. 22 to register a 24% rise compared with last year's corresponding period, Financial Tribune reported.
