According to Director General of Khuzestan Ports and Maritime Organization Adel Deris, 11.31 million tons of oil products were also handled in the port during the same period. He did not specify the year-on-year change in volume, the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development reported.
The official, who doubles as the manager of Imam Khomeini Port's Special Economic Zone, said more than 2.18 million tons of goods were transported by rail at the port to register a 3% rise YOY.
Imam Khomeini Port accounts for 70% of Iran’s imports of essential goods, Deris said earlier this year, according to Financial Tribune.
The imported essential goods, he noted, mainly include wheat, corn, soybeans, barley, rice, sugar and vegetable oils.
