Golestan's Exports Hit $200m in 9 Months

EghtesadOnline: Some 295,000 tons of commodities worth more than $200 million were exported from Iran's northern Golestan Province in the first nine months of the current fiscal year (March 21-Dec. 21).

According to Director General of Golestan Customs Administration Ebrahim Hosseini, the exports witnessed a 75% and 57% growth in tonnage and value respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period, IRNA reported.

The major commodities exported from Golestan included rebar, iron, dairy products, cement, tomato paste and polystyrene.

The main export destinations were Turkmenistan, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Afghanistan, according to Financial Tribune.

A total of 47,380 tons of commodities worth about $22 million were imported into the northern Iranian province during the same period.

Imports mainly included grains, oilseeds and production raw materials. Major exporters to the province included Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and China.

According to the provincial official, Golestan Customs Administration earned more than 94 billion rials ($921,568) in revenues during the nine months, over 80% more compared to last year's corresponding period.
