The organization and Municipality’s District 13 (where the park is located) are to jointly work on the project, tmicto.tehran.ir reported.
The park will be equipped with smart security cameras, smart parking lots and a smart irrigation system, which unlike traditional irrigation controllers that operate on a preset programmed schedule and timers, smart irrigation controllers monitor weather, soil conditions, evaporation and plant water use to automatically adjust the watering schedule to actual conditions of the site.
Recreational facilities, a health center and a wastewater treatment system will also be built in the park, according to Financial Tribune.
The ICT Organization chief, Mohammad Farjoud, says, “Employing smart technologies in Sorkheh Hesar National Park is a pilot project. It aims to manifest what the TM envisions for the capital when speaking about smart development.”
Mayor of District 13 Morteza Rahmanzadeh says, “Work is in its initial stage and feasibility studies are underway. However, to expedite the process, part of the equipment required for the project has been purchased.”
Covering an area of 9,000 hectares Sorkheh Hesar Park is in east Tehran. Under the management of the Department of Environment since 1980, the park has hosted environmental and tourism projects, some of which are in their infancy.
Rahmanzadeh said the park’s ecosystem and tourism potential have been studied in detail to help underpin future eco-friendly projects

As is the norm in most metropolises, transforming the Iranian capital into a smart city has been a TM priority. Smart technologies have been used for monitoring air quality, traffic and water and power distribution networks.
Furthermore, services like a smart bike-sharing system and free Wi-Fi hotspots have been established in some parts of the sprawling capital.
Municipalities believe harnessing smart solutions and Internet of Things (IoT) technology can help resolve chronic problems Tehran has been facing for decades, in particular air pollution and the monstrous traffic.
