Stakeholders Pool Minds in Pardis Tech Park Event

EghtesadOnline: At a friendly gathering in Pardis Technology Park in east Tehran the jury of Iran Web and Mobile Festival shortlisted nominees for the IWMF 2019 award.

Two dozen CEOs of local startups and businesses met in the tech center on Thursday and Friday and reviewed 19,567 websites and 6,810 mobile apps developed by local firms.

The website and mobile applications were categorized in 57 and 21 groups respectively based on the services they offer.

Among those categorized were games, retail, reservation and hotel, online insurance, fintechs, marketing, e-learning, video streaming, parenting, news websites, art and culture, environment, cinema and theater, job hunting, transportation and package delivery, online sales, housing, food delivery services, cloud services and charities, according to Financil Tribune.

After lengthy debates and discussions, the top five service providers in each category were shortlisted based on their performance and user interface.  

Shayan Shalileh, co-founder of the festival said, “The 11th edition of IWMF will be held Feb. 14-15 in Tehran where crème de la crème of Iranian website and mobile applications will be introduced.”

The festival was first held in 2009 and focused basically on websites. Other organizers of the event, Milad Ahrampoush created the Iran App Festival in 2014 and the two later merged.

The current round of the event is backed by Tehran Guild Association of Online Businesses. The guild’s speaker Reza Olfatnasab was present at Pardis and participated in the judging process.

 

 

Pardis Tech Park

Pardis Technology Park is based in Pardis, a satellite town 20km east of Tehran. Established by Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology, it offers free and subsidized working space for technology companies and emerging startups. 

According to the park’s website (techpark.ir) it hosts 132 startups and knowledge-based companies, including Asan Pardakht Persian and Saman Electronic Payment (payment service providers), AsiaTech (Internet service provider), Saman Satellite Communication (telecom service provider), and Shezan (startup accelerator). 

The park is a common venue for technology events like IWMF.
