EghtesadOnline: Foreign travelers to the holy city of Mashhad in Iran's Khorasan Razavi Province will not be charged with tourist tax, local officials have announced.

The decision to cancel tourism tax was made by Mashhad City Council, weeks after the announcement of a new regulation levying taxes on foreigners visiting the religious city, ISNA reported.

As per the law, non-Iranian visitors had to pay €10 when entering the city only once during an Iranian year.

Nearly three million foreigners travelled to Mashhad during the last Iranian year (March 2017-18), Financial Tribune reported.
