SCI Surveys Inflationary Trend in Iran Provinces

EghtesadOnline: The goods and services Consumer Price Index in Kurdestan Province saw an increase of 58.3% during the month to March 20 compared with the similar month of last year, the highest among all provinces.

The year-on-year CPI increase was the lowest for Hormozgan with 39.5%, the Statistical Center of Iran reported.  

The overall goods and services CPI in Iran registered a YOY increase of 47.5% in the month. 

The CPI (using the Iranian year to March 2017 as the base year) stood at 164.3 for the month, indicating a 3.9% rise compared with the previous month, according to Financial Tribune.

The growth in overall CPI compared with the previous month (Jan. 21-Feb. 19) was the highest (5.4%) for Qazvin and lowest (3%) for East Azarbaijan.   

Iran's average goods and services CPI in the 12-month period ending March 20 increased by 26.9% compared with last year’s corresponding period. 

Ilam saw the highest 12-month inflation with 31.7% while Kerman posted the lowest 12-month inflation of 21.6%. 

The average annual inflation gap for Iranian households in different provinces was 10.1% in the period, indicating a 1% increase compared with the previous month.

 

 

Urban Households 

The overall CPI calculated for urban areas stood at 163.3 in the month ending March 20, indicating a 3.8% rise compared with the previous month. The growth in overall CPI measured for urban households compared with the previous month was the highest (5.5%) for Qazvin province and lowest (2.4%) for East Azarbaijan.   

The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 46.6% for urban areas. Goods and Services Consumer Price Index of the urban areas of Kurdestan registered a year-on-year increase of 56.4% during the Iranian month, the highest among all provinces. 

The YOY CPI increase of urban areas was the lowest for Hormozgan with 38.3%.

The goods and services CPI for urban areas in the 12-month period ending March 20 increased by 26.6% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Ilam registered the highest 12-month inflation of urban areas with 32% while Kerman posted the lowest 12-month inflation of 22%. 

The annual inflation gap among urban areas of provinces was 10% in the period, indicating a 1.1% increase compared with the month before.

 

 

Rural Households

The overall CPI calculated for rural areas stood at 170.3 in the period, indicating a 4.5% rise compared with the previous month. The growth in the overall CPI of rural areas compared with the previous month was the highest (6.4%) for Kurdestan Province and lowest (3.3%) for Sistan-Baluchestan.   

The index registered an average year-on-year increase of 52.7% for rural areas. The goods and services Consumer Price Index for Kurdestan’s rural areas registered a YOY increase of 64.7% during the final month of the Iranian year, the highest among all provinces.

The YOY CPI increase in rural areas was the lowest for Hormozgan with 42.3%.

The goods and services CPI for all rural areas in the 12-month period ending March 20 increased by 28.1% compared with last year’s corresponding period. Lorestan registered the highest 12-month inflation of rural areas with 34% while Kerman posted the lowest 12-month inflation of 20.9%. 

The annual inflation gap among all rural areas was 13.1% in the month ending March 20, indicating a 0.9% increase compared with the previous month.
