EghtesadOnline: A number of innovative medical products made by Iranian knowledge-based companies and startups were unveiled at the Iran University of Medical Science on Wednesday.

During the unveiling ceremony, jointly held by the Health Ministry and Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology, seven innovative products in the fields of health and medicine were introduced, the university's website Iums.ac.ir reported.

The products included a digital radiology device, a desk autoclave, a germicidal lamp, liquid helium, BiPAP oxygen concentrator, nanostructured carbonate-hydroxyapatite and the main material of sitagliptin.

The digital radiology device was produced by the knowledge-based company Shima Parto in Tehran. Besides national and international standard certificates, the product will soon receive Europe's CE marking. The company says a large percentage of the device’s components are domestically-made and is 30% cheaper compared to foreign counterparts, according to Financial Tribune.

The desk autoclave was produced by Efahealth. An autoclave is a pressure chamber used to carry out industrial processes requiring elevated temperature and pressure different from ambient air pressure. Autoclaves are used in medical applications to perform sterilization and, in the chemical industry, helps vulcanize rubber and in hydrothermal synthesis.

The germicidal lamp, made by Samsum Sheed Company, is an antimicrobial lamp that helps sterilize the environment of health centers. Regular germicidal lamps produce short-wave ultraviolet light that inactivates bacteria, viruses and protozoa. The domestic product is unique in that it works with visible spectrums without harming the eyes and skin.

Speaking at the unveiling event, Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari said preparing the ground for tech companies in the medical field and giving them support will definitely increase the quality of health services and also create more jobs.

By utilizing government support, knowledge-based companies and their technological products are gaining popularity in the country.
