Morteza Rezaei added that 900,000 tons of eggs were produced last year, of which industrial units produced 90% while the rest was produced by local farmers.
Each Iranian consumes an average of 200 eggs annually, Mehr News Agency reported.
According to Rezaei, Iran is the 10th biggest egg producer in the world and fifth in Asia, Financial Tribune reported.
Around 14,000 tons of eggs have been exported from Iran since the beginning of the current year.
