EghtesadOnline: The southern Iranian port city of Bushehr will house a technology tower by February 2020, as part of the tech authorities' joint efforts to support startups and knowledge-based companies.

According to Abdolkarim Geravand, Bushehr governor general, the construction of the tower was launched at Persian Gulf University campus with a budget of 280 billion rials ($2.4 million), Tasnim News Agency reported.

"Built as a 10-story building covering a 7,000-square meter area, the tech tower will be inaugurated in four months," Financial Tribune quoted him as saying.

“About 40 knowledge-based companies and numerous startups are currently active in the province. The tower will have the capacity to host 700 to 1,000 people, providing workspace for startups, tech companies and investors, as well as workshops for tech production."

Due to its proximity to the Persian Gulf, Bushehr is considered a commercial hub.

Geravand noted that the tower can prepare the ground for innovators to directly and indirectly promote economic enterprises in the area, offering them with smart solutions and tech products.

The tower is a joint project launched by the Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology and the Persian Gulf University in Bushehr.
