EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday stressed the need to further promote political ties and expand cooperation between Iran and Zimbabwe private sector companies active in economic and cultural fields.

The President made the remarks when he received the credentials of the new ambassador of Zimbabwe Christopher Mapanga to Tehran.

He welcomed further expansion of ties with Harare in politics, economy, and culture, according to IRNA.

The two countries have always had good ties after the Islamic Revolution in Iran, President Rouhani said, noting that Iran stood by the people of Zimbabwe when the country was under sanctions.

He said that because the United States is now pressuring both countries, relations and collaborations should expand and deepen.

President Rouhani went on to encourage the private sectors of both countries to put the trade onto a good path.

Mapanga said on the meeting that the common enemies have imposed sanctions on both Iran and Zimbabwe that need to stand against the oppression.
