EghtesadOnline: Iran exported organic agricultural products worth $43 million in the last fiscal year (March 2018-19).

Iran is the world’s 59th biggest producer of organic agricultural products, according to the head of Iran Organic Association, Reza Nourani.

The country is home to 83,000 hectares under the cultivation of organic agricultural products, Mehr News Agency reported.

According to Nourani, major organic products exported from Iran last year included pistachios, saffron, figs, medicinal plants and dates, Financial Tribune reported.

The official also noted that the 12th Iran Organic Festival is slated to open at Tehran’s International Fairground on Nov. 19.

A wide range of organic products such as honey, tea, herbal tea, nuts, citrus fruits and kiwis will also be sold to the public during the festival.

"The price of organic products are 20-30% higher than that of non-organic products according to the global regulations, but the products at the expo are offered to the public at 30% discount," Nourani said.

The four-day event will conclude on Nov. 22.
