EghtesadOnline: A 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit southwestern Iran early Friday close to the area housing the country's nuclear power plant.

The quake occurred about 5 a.m. local time, 44 kilometers southeast of the city of Borazjan in Bushehr Province, at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Iranian Seismological Center.

The epicenter was less than 50 kilometers east of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. There were no reports of any damage to the facility.

The temblor jolted villages near Kalameh city, ISNA reported, adding that there were no reports of any damage or casualties, Financial Tribune reported.

"Based on assessments by the Iranian Red Crescent Society and regional authorities, we're yet to hear of any damage," it quoted Jahangir Dehqani, the head of Bushehr Crisis Management Center, as saying.

"We might have roads blocked in parts of the mountain due to the quake's intensity," he added.
