He expects the giant steel mill’s exports to reach 1.2 million tons by the end of the current fiscal year (March 19, 2020), ILNA reported.
Yazdizadeh added that the number of ESCO's export destinations has increased from last fiscal year's (March 2018-19) 19 to 23 in the current fiscal year (March 2019-20), the main ones being in the Persian Gulf region, Africa, Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
“ESCO’s crude steel production during the nine months saw a 4.73% increase year-on-year to reach 1.77 million tons,” Financial Tribune quoted him as saying.
Located close to the cities of Fooladshahr and Zarrinshahr in Isfahan Province, ESCO (locally known as Zob Ahan Esfahan) is the first and largest manufacturer of constructional steel products in Iran. It started production in 1971 with an annual capacity of 600,000 tons. The company, which owns the Zob Ahan football club, has expanded significantly ever since.
Iran's 3rd Biggest Steel Exporter
Latest data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization show Esfahan Steel Company was the third biggest exporter of steel in Iran with 779,074 tons during the eight months to Nov. 21, up 18% compared with last year's corresponding period.
With a total of 1.26 million tons of exports during the eight months, Khouzestan Steel Company was Iran's biggest exporter. The mill experienced year-on-year declines of 17% in exports
Mobarakeh Steel Company came in second by shipping 1 million tons of steel products, up 36% compared with last year's corresponding period.
IMIDRO data also show ESCO was the second biggest steel producer of finished steel in Iran during the same period with 1.51 million tons, up 7% YOY.
With an output of 11.9 million tons, Mobarakeh Steel Company had the largest share of steel production (finished and semi-finished) during the period.
The company produced 5.62 million tons of finished steel during the period, posting no change compared with last year's corresponding period. In addition, it produced 6.28 million tons of semi-finished products, registering a 1% decline year-on-year.
ESCO was also Iran's third biggest producer of semi-finished steel during the period with 1.6 million tons, up 9% YOY.
KSC was the second biggest producer in this category with 2.5 million tons (unchanged YOY).
