Exports by Border Cooperatives Hit $1.2b

EghtesadOnline: A total of $1.2 billion worth of goods were exported by the Cooperatives of Iranian Border Residents during the last Iranian year (March 2019-20).

According to Yaser Feyzi, the head of the commission for cooperatives affiliated with Iran Chamber of Cooperatives, the exports included foodstuff, agricultural products, chocolate, pastry, rebar and metal, IRIB News reported.

The official noted that imports by the cooperatives during the same period were essential goods such as rice as well as tires.

Cooperatives for Iranian Border Residents are active in 17 provinces and have a total of seven million members (making up around 8.3% of the country’s population).

These cooperatives have a significant effect on the livelihood of the people living along the country’s borders.
