EghtesadOnline: A temporary ban on the export of eggs has been lifted by the latest order of Market Regulation Headquarters, affiliated with the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade.

Nasser Nabipour, the head of Egg-Laying Chicken Producers Union, told Fars News Agency that exports have been resumed since July 21.

Based on the new order, he said, exporters have to pay 40,000 rials ($0.18) in duty per kilogram of shipment.

Egg exports were banned on July 4, as per the Industries Ministry’s measures to curb price hikes in the domestic market.

Iran produces 90,000 tons of eggs per month.

Per capita egg consumption in the country prior to the coronavirus stood at 12 kilograms per year.

Iran produced 1.1 million tons of eggs in the last fiscal year (ended March 19, 2020), of which 41,000 tons were exported.
