During the period, NIDC registered a drilling record, going down 133,222 meters below the ground, Seyed Abdollah Mousavi said.
“Of the completed wells, 30 were development wells, 10 exploration wells and 69 were repaired,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying.
“In the past year, agreements were signed with centers of higher learning, namely Shahrud, Chamran, and Oil industry universities plus the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research for knowledge transfer, documentation of experience and scientific cooperation,” he added.
NIDC owns 72 offshore and onshore drilling rigs. It draws on the capacity and potential of domestic manufacturers in indigenizing parts and equipment for the key oil and gas sector.
Indigenized equipment includes blowout preventers, traction motors, draw-works, drilling fluid recycling systems, mission centrifugal pumps, top drives, and drilling rig slow circulation rate pressure systems.
The official said his company accounts for 65% of the domestic drilling market share. It undertakes most drilling work in the country and has drilled 4,500 onshore and offshore oil and gas wells in four decades.
The company plays a key role in drilling exploratory and development wells in Azadegan Oilfield in Khuzestan near the Iraqi border and in South Pars, the world's largest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf.
NIDC, a subsidiary of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), has undertaken drilling work in Yaran, Yadavaran and Darkhoin oil fields in Khuzestan, and the Azar oil field in Ilam Province.
It was instrumental in the recent discovery of the Eram Gas Field and the huge Namavaran Oil Field.
NIDC and the University of Shahrud signed an agreement in July to set up a collaborative education and research program to maximize opportunities for students for research into drilling industry technologies as well as negotiating over challenging issues.
NIDC said in a statement that interaction with academic centers should improve the domestic technology and boost know-how.
It also has signed a contract to develop drilling activity in Jofeir and Sepehr oil fields in Khuzestan with Pejvak Energy Company.
Pejvak, a subsidiary of Pasargad Energy Development Company, signed a $60M contract with NIDC in May.
Under the contract, NIDC will drill six development wells at the possible earliest time and offer engineering and technical services.
