Last year (March 2019-20), a total of 1.63 million tons of sheet glass were produced and the figure is estimated to increase by 20-25% by the yearend (March 19, 2021).
Iran’s exports of the product stood at $57.4 million last year.
The Industry Ministry puts domestic sheet glass production capacity at 1.7 million tons per year.
The provinces of Qazvin, Yazd and Markazi have the highest share of output capacity in a descending order.
Based on figures provided by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration as well as the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, with around 0.6% of the global share, Iran ranked the world’s 28th biggest sheet glass exporter in 2019.
